It is a blend of Syrah (64%), Grenache Noir (14%), Cinsault (11%)Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), and also Viognier (1%). Wine of origin certification was given due to all the grapes for the blend being grown in the Swartland.
Complex red and dark berry fruit, violets and strong aromas of white pepper result in an exceptionally perfumed nose. Dark brooding fruit follows through onto a structured, opulent palate with notes of cardamom, cumin, cloves and black pepper. Textured and balanced with a slight acidity, the mid palate is rich with cocoa powdery tannins and a definite cedar-wood character derived from French oak. Finally, white pepper lingers on a smooth, lifted finish, resembling Swiss dark hazelnut chocolate.
